Hey people, this just in from our fearless leader/principle guy:
I would like to bring to your attention a need in our
community which may be filled by your students. An All Saints parishioner,
Joe, who is 90 years old and blind is in desperate need of
companionship. While he lives in an assisted living facility, the Atria,
his blindness has isolated him and he is extremely lonely. I try to visit
him whenever I can but I thought that perhaps one or two of your students
could visit him on a regular basis, as part of their school community
service. Joe is a WWII fighter pilot who is articulate, intelligent and
wonderful company. He is in good health and his mind is still very sharp.
I think any young person would have much to gain by getting to know this
interesting man. The Atria is on Lake Brook Blvd, off Middle Brook Pike.
If any two students would like to take this on as a tam tag service hour project, you'll need to e-mail me to get his phone number. You can e-mail me right now at pat@pmrphoto.com or try me on my cell at 607-2020. Last, this is not something you'd want to "try out" and bag if you don't like the situation. If you're good with older people and like to listen more than talk, contact me. You should have an agreeable partner before you contact me. So it's Advent... so I'll wait expectantly in hopes for your call... dpat
